Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – May 2026
After years of watching herbicide resistance grow across the prairies, we decided it was time for a fundamentally different approach.
LaserAg Solutions is developing an advanced precision laser weed control system designed specifically for large-scale Canadian agriculture.
How It Works
Our system uses drone-mounted technology equipped with a specialized boom carrying multiple high-powered 320-watt lasers. As the drone flies over the field:
- Advanced cameras and sensors scan the crop area in real time
- AI identifies weeds while distinguishing them from the desired crop
- Targeted laser beams deliver precise energy to destroy the weed at the cellular level
- The crop remains untouched
The result is highly accurate, chemical-free weed control that works even on herbicide-resistant species.
Key Benefits for Prairie Farmers
- Chemical-Free — No herbicide residue, protecting soil health and reducing environmental impact
- Targeted Treatment — Only hits the weeds, not the entire field
- Effective Against Resistance — Works on weeds that have evolved past traditional chemistry
- Potential Cost Savings — Reduced chemical and fuel expenses over time
- Scalable — Designed for the vast, open fields common in Saskatchewan and Western Canada
Current Development Stage
We are currently in the early field testing phase. Our prototype systems are being tested on real Saskatchewan fields to refine accuracy, speed, and reliability under actual farming conditions.
This is just the beginning. Our goal is to deliver a practical, durable tool that becomes a standard part of modern weed management on the prairies.
